New Work – ein konzeptioneller Überblick

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Auseinandersetzung mit New Work, insbesondere im unter Personalmangel leidenden Tourismus, ist heute wichtiger denn je. Erwachsen aus der Überlegung, dass die Arbeit dem Menschen dienen soll und nicht andersherum, ist New Work heute gleichzeitig von verschiedensten Definitionsansätzen wie auch vielfältigen Konzepten und Methoden geprägt, die sich beispielsweise durch die inhaltliche, zeitliche und räumliche Flexibilisierung der Arbeitstätigkeiten, aber ebenso durch zentrale Werte wie Mitbestimmung und Wertschätzung ausdrücken. Praxisbeispiele aus der Tourismuswirtschaft wie die Einführung der 4-Tage-Woche bei den 25h Hotels, eine umfassende Transformation in Richtung New Work bei der TUI AG oder der Kulturwandel bei Upstalsboom machen deutlich, dass New Work in der tendenziell hierarchisch und traditionell geprägten Tourismuswirtschaft durchaus umgesetzt werden kann und dass New Work große Potenziale für die Mitarbeitendengewinnung und -bindung im Tourismus bietet.
