Energy Consumption Management System for Smart Cities Using IoT Cloud

Abstract

Smart cities are development of urban areas integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and information and communications technology (ICT) to manage the city assets. Although we have better approaches to utilizing the resources for integrating the technologies, we also need to look for the source of energy and its utilization. All the architecture will be built using technology, but the powerhouse source generates the units that technology will run on, and it is important to conserve the least energy. So energy management is also important because electric energy is generated from nonrenewable resources. In this chapter, we will be proposing an Energy Consumption Management System (ECMS-ICloud) with high-end technologies including IoT and Cloud. So, we will be using the same technology that we are integrating to build smart cities in the urban area, to optimize the usage of the renewable source of energy consumption. This engineering idea is to use cutting-edge technologies to generate advice to the consumers regarding the optimization of the consumption of energy by bringing awareness about energy utilization.
