Abstract

This paper aims to highlight the important contributions made by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah while serving Islamic economics. The outstanding role of the Fiqh academy would be realized once we recognize that Islamic Economics is still in its infancy, overlaps with the Islamic Fiqh, and is trying to become a dynamic science. That requires depth of knowledge in the Fiqh developing issues, and provides solutions so as to harmonize emerging real life developments without compromising the rules of Sharia and its objectives. With the blessing of Allah, during the thirty years of its glorious history, the Academy produced 216 Sharia decrees, (1200) research papers in the field of Fiqh, and 60 issues of the Academy’s Journal. These decrees dealt with intellectual and practical issues, human rights, women and family affairs and decrees relating to economic and financial challenges, endowments and medical affairs. To be fully aware of the Fiqh Academy's contributions requires detailed knowledge of its various activities, which include its decrees, recommendations, statements, seminars and its Intellectual Forums.
