Preistransparenzmaßnahmen im Lebensmittelhandel. Kurzanalyse der Potenziale und Risiken für den Wettbewerb

Abstract

Im Zuge des ursprünglich von den Energiepreisen induzierten allgemeinen Preisauftriebs haben sich auch die Preise für Lebensmittel in Österreich stark erhöht. Aufgrund der stark konzentrierten Marktstruktur des Lebensmittelhandels erfolgte auch sehr bald der Ruf nach wettbewerbsaktivierenden Maßnahmen. Ein Weg, um den Wettbewerb zu beleben, stellt die Erhöhung der Preistransparenz auf Märkten dar. In einer digitalisierten Wirtschaft haben sich zu diesem Zweck betriebene internetbasierte Preisvergleichsportale für eine Vielzahl von Produkten etabliert. Ziel jeder staatlichen Intervention zur Erhöhung der Preistransparenz muss es sein, den Wettbewerb zu stärken, weshalb die Potenziale und die Risiken von Maßnahmen zur Erhöhung der Preistransparenz im Lebensmittelhandel analysiert und gegeneinander abgewogen werden, um nicht den gegenteiligen Effekt einer Wettbewerbseinschränkung zu erreichen.
