Abstract

Esta obra se ocupa del proceso de redefinición en curso de los papeles masculino y femenino en el entorno familiar.La incorporación de la mujer al mundo laboral ha obligado a replantear el reparto de las tareas cotidianas y, en particular, ha hecho que los hombres tengan que modificar su relación con los hijos y el hogar. Las autoras de este trabajo ofrecen una cartografía de estos cambios en las familias españolas, presentando una tipología múltiple de los hogares en el inicio del siglo xxi.La investigación sociológica en la que se basa esta monografía ha utilizado técnicas de investigación de carácter cualitativo (grupos de discusión y entrevistas en profundidad), que ayudan a explorar cómo son los hombres jóvenes españoles y de qué manera afrontan la paternidad. Esta última cuestión es, para las autoras, la pieza clave del cambio en las familias: una nueva forma de ser y sentirse padres que incluye el retorno -minoritario aún, pero claramente perceptible- de los hombres al hogar. Investigaciones ulteriores podrán determinar con precisión cuantitativa el alcance de las transformacionesdocumentadas en este libro.Las autoras de esta obra son Inés Alberdi, catedrática de Sociología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, y Pilar Escario, psicóloga y presidenta del Instituto de Investigación Social ADVIRA.
