Abstract

Durante el siglo XIX en Colombia y otros países hispanoamericanos la expansión de las formas de sociabilidad estuvo íntimamente relacionada con la disputa por el control hegemónico del espacio público. Los principales agentes de las prácticas asociativas fueron las élites liberales, la Iglesia católica con sus aliados conservadores, y los sectores populares liderados por grupos de artesanos. Este libro es un examen exhaustivo de la evolución de las principales formas de sociabilidad desde los inicios republicanos (1820) hasta la instauración del proyecto de república católica, mejor conocido como la Regeneración (1886).
