Abstract

Während Unternehmen über nationale Grenzen hinweg in globalen Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken operieren, stehen transnationale gewerkschaftliche Organisierungsstrategien häufig noch am Anfang. Angesichts der Asymmetrie zwischen global entgrenzter Produktion und (vornehmlich) nationalstaatlich begrenzten Gewerkschaften mag dieser Befund kaum überraschen. Dennoch lassen sich in jüngerer Zeit innovative Ansätze der transnationalen gewerkschaftlichen Organisierung in globalen Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken identifizieren. Ein solcher Ansatz steht im Fokus des vorliegenden Beitrages: Die im Jahr 2012 ins Leben gerufene Internationale Netzwerkinitiative (NWI) der IG Metall zielt darauf ab, über Ländergrenzen hinweg eine intensivere Zusammenarbeit zwischen Gewerkschafter*innen in einem internationalen Konzern zu unterstützen. Ausgehend von einem teilnehmend-beobachtenden Forschungsprojekt diskutiert der vorliegende Beitrag Herausforderungen und Chancen der NWI und verweist dabei auf einen Praxisfall in globalen Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken der Automobilbranche: der transnationalen gewerkschaftlichen Organisierung in der Lear Corporation, einem Tier-1-Supplier. Der Beitrag ist damit zugleich als Werkstattbericht über die laufende Forschung und als Einladung zum Diskurs zu verstehen.
