Strukturwandel und Entwicklung der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsintensität im Unternehmenssektor in Österreich im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Die Branchenstruktur bzw. die Spezialisierung der Volkswirtschaften erklärt – anders als eine Vielzahl von länderspezifischen Faktoren – einen Großteil der internationalen Unterschiede in der F&E-Intensität von Volkswirtschaften. Im internationalen Vergleich weist Österreich eine in Relation zur Branchenstruktur hohe Forschungs- und Entwicklungsintensität auf. Die österreichische Wirtschaft ist dabei jedoch auf Branchen mit mittlerer Technologieintensität spezialisiert. Die kräftige Zunahme der F&E-Intensität des österreichischen Unternehmenssektors um 0,27 Prozentpunkte auf 1,97% zwischen 2004 und 2007 war vorwiegend auf eine Steigerung der F&E-Intensität innerhalb dieser Branchen zurückzuführen, während ein Strukturwandel hin zu technologieintensiveren Branchen nach wie vor nicht zu beobachten ist.
