Krankenstände in Österreich: Bestimmungsfaktoren und Ausblick

Abstract

Die Krankenstände der unselbständig Beschäftigten verringern sich in Österreich sowohl mittel- als auch langfristig. Diese Entwicklung kann auf unterschiedliche Faktoren zurückgeführt werden. Wie die Abnahme der Arbeitsunfälle und der Verletzungen als Krankenstandsursachen verdeutlicht, dämpft der Strukturwandel der Wirtschaft die Krankenstände. Auch die Verfestigung der Arbeitslosigkeit dürfte zur Senkung der Krankenstände der Beschäftigten beigetragen haben. Eine entscheidende Rolle für das gesamtwirtschaftliche Krankenstandsniveau spielt die Gestaltung des Übergangs zwischen Erwerbstätigkeit, Arbeitslosigkeit und Ruhestand. Demographische Trends erklären dagegen nur einen geringen Anteil der Krankenstandsentwicklung.
