Abstract

Purpose: The number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still lagging compared to several other ASEAN countries, so there is an urgency to explore the factors that influence the formation of entrepreneurial intentions as predictors of entrepreneurial behavior. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of social support and entrepreneurial passion on forming entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, this study investigates whether entrepreneurial passion mediates the relationship between social support and entrepreneurial intention.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used a quantitative approach with a single cross-sectional descriptive research type on 268 samples of student respondents in Indonesia. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data analysis in this study was carried out with the PLS-SEM technique.Findings: The results of this study confirm the direct positive influence of social support on entrepreneurial passion and entrepreneurial intention, as well as the direct positive influence of entrepreneurial passion on entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, the study showed that entrepreneurial passion partially mediates the relationship between social support and entrepreneurial intention.Implications/Originality/Value: The results of this study enrich the study of entrepreneurial literature related to entrepreneurial passion and social support, mainly how social support as a contextual variable affects entrepreneurial passion. The study's results also enrich entrepreneurship literature because it investigates entrepreneurial passion as a mediator between social support and entrepreneurial intention.
