Abstract

Results of the study of the structural composition of the bacterial and fungal microflora isolated from conjunctival swabs from calves and cows with clinical signs of keratoconjunctivitis are given in this paper. Predominance among bacterial agents of the representatives of coccal microflora (staphylococci were found in 85.06% of the animals, streptococci in 74.71% of the animals) was revealed. Escherichia coli 74.71%, Proteus spp. 52.87%, Enterobacter spp. 35.63%, Klebsiella spp. 5.75% were the most frequently isolated microorganisms of the Enterobacteriaceae. The occurrence frequency of the bacteria of Enterococcus spp. amounted to 31.03%, Bacillus spp. 28.74%. The above-mentioned microorganisms are not etiologically relevant pathogens in the pathological process during infectious keratoconjunctivitis, but have a secondary effect. Moraxella spp. 10.34%, Acinetobacter spp. 8.05%, Corynebacterium spp. 6.90%, Pseudomonas spp. 2.3% have been identified from bacteria having primary role in this infectious process. The study of the biological properties of the etiologically significant species of bacteria during infectious keratoconjunctivitis confirmed the pathogenicity of isolates of Moraxella bovis and Moraxella bovoculi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
