Abstract

Actualul context economic se caracterizeaza prin influenta puternica a globalizarii, manifestata prin tendinta de delocalizare a activitatilor marilor intreprinderi. Produsele realizate la mare distanta geografica trebuie aduse in timp util In locurile in care sunt solicitate. Ca atare, serviciile logistice capata o insemnatate aparte. In plus, dezvoltarea noilor tehnologii informatice si de comunicare au contribuit la adancirea acestei tendinte. Daca informatiile sunt dematerializate, nu inseamna ca operatiunile fizice sunt mai putin importante. Transportul, intr-o economie globalizata, se confrunta cu constrangeri majore de rapiditate si de termene. Controlul manipularii, cu diversele sale operatiuni - fragmentarea sau consolidarea loturilor, pregatirea comenzii, operatiunile de picking, ambalare etc. - necesita rigoare si organizare eficace pentru a produce castiguri de productivitate. Pozitionarea strategica a locurilor de stocare conditioneaza calitatea serviciilor si fluiditatea transporturilor din amonte si din aval.
