Abstract

With the methodology proposed by the United Nations and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the model pressure-state-response (PSR), and make an interpretation about social, economical and environmental in a relatively simple interpretation. The PSR framework is based in the logic of causality: the human activities exert pressures (pressure) on the environment and change the quality and quantity of natural resources (state), in the same manner, society and ecology responds to these changes (responses). Environmental policy and economical policy, there are part of pressure and responses, over contextual situation; state indcators. The model begins with the following questions: What is affecting the environment? What is happening with the state of the environment? And, what is being done about these issues? This identifies the relationship of socio-environmental of the Cuitzeo Lake basin, while allowing a quick, comparative, and effective reading, which can contribute to effective decision making to implement make decisions that provide elements of resolution and prevention. The results show that the evolution of the pressure systems in the upper side of the basin has increased significantly, a situation reflected in the response and the state of the basin as a whole. However, the standard life of population no had been improved. The indicators there are important instruments for identify strategically opportunity areas for encourage development sustainable.
