The Impact of Social Security on Household Welfare: Evidence from a Transition Country

Abstract

Si la sécurité sociale peut sans aucun doute contribuer à la réduction de la pauvreté, son effet sur cette dernière peut varier d’une situation à une autre. Nous effectuons des régressions à effets fixes pour estimer l’effet des transferts sociaux, y compris les pensions de retraite contributives et les allocations sociales, sur les dépenses de consommation des ménages bénéficiaires au Vietnam. Notre article étudie également l’effet des transferts sociaux sur la pauvreté au Vietnam. On constate que les pensions, ainsi que les allocations sociales, contribuent à accroître les dépenses des ménages, en particulier les dépenses de consommation non alimentaire. Les pensions et les allocations sociales réduisent la pauvreté tant des bénéficiaires que du reste de la population.
