El problema del atraso cambiario: consideraciones teóricas y prácticas

Abstract

En este artículo el autor hace un intento de desarrollar un marco teórico que permita comprender la tendencia a la caída del tipo de cambio real que viene observándose en el Perú desde 1989. Luego de descartar el enfoque de la paridad cambiaria por sus insuficiencias teóricas, y los enfoques de portafolio, que sólo pueden explicar razonablemente los movimientos de corlo plazo, el autor concluye en la necesidad de plantear el problema en términos reales. Sobre la base del modelo propuesto por Dornbusch, Fischer y Samuelson, ensaya una explicación en términos de las relaciones entre los sectores productores de bienes transables y no transables.
