Abstract

The subject of this study are the different stages of interaction between philosophy and economic knowledge, leading over the last decades to the differentiation of a new and modern discipline – philosophy of economy or philosophy of economics. Four stages of development of the relationships between philosophy and economic science are outlined: (a) development of economic knowledge as part of the subject of philosophy; (b) emergence and development of a separate economic science keeping its ties with the philosophy; (c) separation and contradistinction of economic science and philosophy; (d) differentiation and institutionalization of a new discipline which is taught today in universities around the world, including UNWE. Two traditions of development of this discipline are taken into account – the Western philosophy of economics and the Russian philosophy of economy. And lastly, the main topics of the philosophy of economy are considered, as well as its heuristic role in the education of specialists in economic faculties.
