Abstract

Of all the cultural industries, in recent years it has been the music industry that has best embraced the changes linked to innovation, in particular thanks to the explosion of digital. The result is a profound structural transformation, which has initiated a path of constant growth of the sector both on a global and local level: it has not stopped even with the impact of the pandemic, which has instead accelerated consumer adoption in areas like gaming, live streaming, social media and in-home fitness. Breaking down barriers and borders of language, culture and genre around the world, music has made an incredible impact over the last period: it happens thanks the continuing commitment to harness talents and resources to shape culture through the power of music and the creativity at its core. The universe of opportunities for this industry at the Italian level is vast and fast expanding. There’s strong growth in both subscription and ad-supported streaming and the investments in the production of the record industry allow for this constant growth, which have generated new opportunities for professionals, artists and the public, increasingly the protagonist of music consumption.
