Abstract

A nemzetközi egyetemi rangsorok egybehangzóan bizonyítják, hogy Európa felsőoktatása mindinkább lemarad az amerikai felsőoktatástól. A sokféle rangsor azonban sokféle módszertannal készült el. Nemcsak a módszerek különbözők, hanem a szemlélet és a fogalomhasználat is igen eltérő az egyes rangsorok között, így eredményeik alig összehasonlíthatók. A cikk három sokat idézett nemzetközi egyetemi rangsor alapos, valamint több más ranglista részleges elemzésével bizonyítja, hogy ez az "iparág" módszertani értelemben még messze van az érettségtől. Az is igaz viszont, hogy az európai lemaradás az összkép alapján nem tekinthető kérdésesnek. Ez pedig felhívja a figyelmet arra a tényre, hogy az EU felzárkózási és versenyképességjavító törekvéseiben a felsőoktatás még csak alárendelt helyen szerepel.
