Abstract

This research investigates the role of human resource practices on the performance of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Factors such as work-life balance, affective commitment, and intrinsic motivation are shown to be influential in determining the performance of MSEs. In total 750 MSEs owners from South Sulawesi took part in the study, and the structural equation method is used for the analysis. This research contributes to existing research into the topic of human resource practices and their effect on performance. The results indicate that performance is profoundly affected by intrinsic motivation and affective commitment, but not by work-life balance.
