Abstract

"At a workshop at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) various studies were presented which attempt to test whether there is a German 'wage curve'. This is an inverse relationship between regional unemployment and regional wages. The occurrence of the wage curve can be explained by efficiency wage and bargaining approaches."
