Abstract

Para los Pueblos Indígenas (de aquí en adelante PIs) la defensa de su singular relación con la naturaleza, su territorio y los ecosistemas con los que comparten su existencia constituye un pilar básico y sagrado de sus culturas (Daes, 1997) y es objeto de especial protección dentro de su agenda de reivindicación de derechos indígenas a nivel mundial (Anaya, 1996). Es más, desde los albores de dicho movimiento en 1974, la defensa de una visión indígena, alternativa al ecocentrismo y antropocentrismo dominantes, ha sido una constante de su quehacer político internacional (Arregi, 2010).
