Abstract

This research performs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) through the PRISMA framework of the existing works in Supply Chain Coopetition (SCC), conducts a content analysis on SCC, and examines the theory of coopetition and organizational relationships on intra-firm and inter-firm supply chains. The focus is on the collaboration between rival manufacturers to leverage supply chain capabilities and functions. The research is based on the concept of synergy and the role of supply chain operations reference (SCOR) model. The content analysis is based on a literature review of 156 papers, published from 1997 to 2022, recognized by the Web of Science (WoS) database. The SLR synthesized existing information about SCC and developed a thematic framework for classifying the reviewed papers in terms of SCC structures, mechanisms and dynamics identified in the literature. In particular, the identified structures of coopetition are in buyer-supplier coopetition, supply networks coopetition, production, and distribution/logistics coopetition. In addition, a set of operational mechanisms are analyzed such as capacity sharing and network optimization. There is little existing advice and direction regarding SCC, and this study addresses that by providing a holistic approach to the management practices of SCC. This is the first content analysis of SCC through an SLR; therefore, it serves as a guide for academics and practitioners to perform further research.
