Abstract

This paper selects China's A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2022 as the research sample to investigate the impact of the financial and legal career background of the secretary of the board of directors on the litigation risk of listed companies. It is found that board secretaries with financial career background significantly increase the litigation risk of the company; board secretaries with legal career background significantly reduce the litigation risk of the company; board secretary with a professional background in finance elevates analysts' attention to the company, which in turn increases the company's litigation risk.
