Probability-density risk-maps for tourism during emergencies

Abstract

•Emergencies negatively affect tourism as people are afraid for their safety.•We develop a dynamic probability-density risk model to map an area's actual risk.•Exploiting public data, an example on London, shows these maps' dynamic risk-representation.•We show that these maps help tourism during emergencies yet preserve people's safety.•These maps constitute a predictive model to formulate tourism scenarios and guide policy-making.
