Mejorar la educación es crucial para un desarrollo social y económico inclusivo y sostenible

Abstract

La educación es fundamental para lograr un desarrollo social y económico inclusivo y sostenible, y para crear sociedades más justas y cohesionadas. A pesar de los importantes avances en términos de acceso, progresión y conclusión educativa, los países de América Latina y el Caribe enfrentan un doble desafío: acelerar los avances y reducir las brechas en las tasas de cobertura y conclusión educativas, y mejorar su calidad y pertinencia. Los avances en el acceso a educación y formación técnico-profesional no se reflejan en la adquisición de competencias que permitan a las personas adaptarse a procesos de aprendizaje y reconversión a lo largo de la vida, e incorporarse a un mundo cambiante y tecnologizado. Estos desafíos se vieron exacerbados después del prolongado cierre de las escuelas durante la pandemia de enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19). La recuperación educativa requiere una transformación profunda y que se asegure la sostenibilidad financiera, junto con una institucionalidad fortalecida en la región.
