Abstract

In recent years, there has been a surge in research on household financial vulnerability (FV). This increase is mirrored by the growth in financially fragile households, a trend accentuated by widening income and wealth disparities. This paper undertakes a systematic literature review combined with a bibliometric analysis, spanning January 2000 to June 2023. The focus of the review is on understanding FV in the context of low-income households, covering disciplines such as Finance, Economics, and Social Sciences. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study using a systematic review approach to examine FV in low-income households.
