Constructing of timetables as a multiple criteria optimization problem – some reflections

Abstract

Each educational institution shall draw up lesson plans that take into account many constraints and preferences of users and determine the intensity of utilization of the material base. The article aims at bringing the issues of planning activities and tries to identify a number of dilemmas facing the planner. The article takes up theoretical aspects of optimal distribution of classes (lectures), focusing on several key issues: users’ preferences, the utilization of teaching spaces and planning tools.
