Cambios estructurales en la participación laboral en Colombia desde 1984 - 2008: un análisis econométrico del mercado laboral urbano para la generación de políticas de empleo

Abstract

Este estudio de la oferta laboral, propone desde la perspectiva teórica la identificación de los determinantes de la participación laboral que explican el crecimiento de la oferta del mercado de trabajo colombiano, para los diferentes grupos poblacionales que componen la fuerza de trabajo; y desde el ejercicio econométrico, determinar la influencia de un conjunto de variables en la probabilidad de participación de los diferentes grupos poblacionales en el mercado laboral. Su objetivo es identificar los cambios estructurales en los determinantes de la participación laboral en Colombia desde 1984 hasta 2008, entre los diferentes grupos poblacionales, los cuales coadyuven a la generación de políticas públicas de empleo. La estimación de las funciones de probabilidad de participación laboral se basará en el diseno de un modelo econométrico de elección binaria tipo probit. De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos, se puede afirmar que la tasa global de participación en las siete principales áreas metropolitanas de Colombia está afectada de manera positiva por la tasa de crecimiento económico y por la jefatura de hogar, lo cual conduciría a incrementar la oferta de trabajo y a que la población participe en el mercado laboral con mejores oportunidades de empleo y salarios.
