Abstract

Goran Therborn nos presenta en este lúcido y riguroso libro una reflexión necesaria y descarnada de las desigualdades actuales. Por una parte, el autor llama la atención respecto al relativo abandono que el tema tuvo en la sociología clásica y el lugar legítimo que se le ha venido otorgando recientemente. Por otra parte, subraya la inexistencia de esfuerzos en las ciencias sociales para dar cuenta del carácter multidimensional de la desigualdad y sus nefastas consecuencias. En cuanto aesto último,y en contraste con el extenso trabajo deautores comoPicketty (2015)yAtkinson(2000), el libro de Therborn hace énfasis en la reflexión teórico-conceptual de las desigualdades, así como en sus consecuencias sociales.
