Sobre la semántica del femicidio en Chile

Abstract

En el 2006 un nuevo concepto se comienza a instalar en la semántica de la sociedad chilena, un conteo constante de asesinatos de mujeres visibiliza un problema social: el femicidio. De esta manera, organizaciones feministas y organismos supranacionales con enfoque de derechos han puesto sus esfuerzos en tematizar el femicidio y demandar la intervención estatal en políticas de prevención. En este contexto, en el 2007 en Chile se propone la moción que tipifica el femicidio como figura legal. Este artículo, basado en una investigación empírica, intenta indagar en la semantización del femicidio en Chile, considerando la trayectoria hacia su promulgación. Así mismo, será expuesta la problemática del femicidio como resultado de la violencia de género en el contexto de una sociedad patriarcal, para finalmente, en este escenario, captar cómo se semantizó el concepto, en su calidad de ley, en la población.
