Des principes agroécologiques à leur mise en pratique. Quels effets environnementaux en Zambie et quels enseignements pour les bailleurs de fonds ?

Abstract

The use of the word ?agroecology? has become more and more common when the future of farming is discussed by public backers involved in developing countries. In theory, this type of agriculture should be an answer to the environmental damage blamed on the intensive farming promoted, through what is commonly referred to as the ?green revolution?. This article examines how different approaches inspired by agroecology are encouraged in Zambia. By confronting agroecological principles to their implementation, it questions the environmental efficiency of these interventions in order to contribute to the reflection on the way the financial backers of development assistance could support a more sustainable agricultural development.
