Abstract

To what extent can a private organisation contribute to sustainable local development? In recent years, a form of entrepreneurship “by and for” local residents has been gradually taking shape in France. This article looks at the development of the Archer Group, analysing how it has evolved from a back-to-work organisation to a local company. The article also examines some of the specific features of this new organisational form. The territory enterprise makes it possible to inspire local public development policies, to question the relationship between SMEs and their local environment, and to mobilise citizens seeking to commit themselves to ecological and social transitions.
