Abstract

It is shown that agroecological conditions, in which the spring barley varieties are created, significantly affect subsequently growing them in a particular ecological and geographical area. We found that conditions that were characterized by relatively high air temperature and reduced precipitation were more favorable for spring barley varieties of Scientific and Methodological Center «Selection and Genetics Institute» in the transition zone of Polissia. Conditions which included a slight decrease in air temperature and sufficient precipitation during the growing season were favorable for plant varieties created in Myroniv Institute of Wheat nd. a. V.M. Remeslo and the Plant Production Institute nd. a. V.Ya. Yuryev. We have found that varieties of Krasnodar Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture nd. a. P.P. Lukyanenko in the first year of cultivation under these conditions have provided relatively greater plant height than in subsequent years while the productivity was almost identical
