Centro e Periferia no Padrão Ouro-Libra: Celso Furtado Subestimou a Dinâmica da Dependência Financeira?

Abstract

O artigo pretende discutir a interpretação de Celso Furtado, e de comentadores posteriores, a respeito da vulnerabilidade monetária e cambial das economias periféricas integradas ao padrão ouro-libra e, em particular, do Brasil. O argumento principal é que as assimetrias e ciclos financeiros internacionais não foram adequadamente tratados na analise de Furtado sobre o Sistema Centro-Periferia, embora suas hipóteses forneçam um arcabouço analítico fundamental para esta tarefa.
