Abstract

Les objectifs de cette synthèse sont: (1) passer en revue les principaux facteurs biologiques et sociaux qui sous tendent un mauvais état de santé et de nutrition chez les enfants; (2) analyser les effets potentiels du développement agricole sur ces déterminants sous-jacents; et (3) relier ces résultats aux conditions du Mali, où les décideurs s'inquiètent des niveaux de malnutrition infantile révélés dans des études récentes, à l'instar de Enquête Démographique et de Santé (EDS) II. Spécifiquement, la synthèse illustre les importants constats dans les pays en développement et la relation entre la malnutrition infantile et les soins à l'enfant, l'éducation de la mère et les pratiques alimentaires; le revenu des ménages, les dépenses alimentaires et la consommation; la distribution des ressources à l'intérieur des ménages; et les facteurs saisonniers.
